Description

Judy is a Mental Health Counseling intern at Boston College, where she is pursuing her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Child & Family Mental Health and Wellness. She has three years of clinical experience, working as a peer support for adolescents and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, with particular experience supporting immigrant and international populations navigating cultural adjustment, identity development, gender-affirming care, and experiences related to trauma.

Judy approaches counseling from a culturally responsive, strengths-based, and client-centered perspective. She believes that each person is the expert on their own lived experience and that our emotions and ways of understanding the world are shaped by the unique relationships, cultures, identities, and environments we move through. With these in mind, Judy works collaboratively with clients to explore what their experiences mean to them and to identify ways of moving forward that feel authentic to who they are, creating space for feelings that may have been difficult to recognize or express to gradually be understood and named.

Judy is fully bilingual and provides counseling in both English and Mandarin Chinese. She is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Fun fact: Judy chose her preferred English name when she was six years old, inspired by one of her favorite songs at the time, Hey Jude.
